Family history without exposing living family.
The public archive and private research collection serve different purposes and follow different rules.
Public material
Exact birth dates, locations, contact information, and other identifying details for living relatives are excluded. Military documents containing service numbers or other sensitive identifiers are summarized rather than embedded.
Submitted material
Contributions are stored privately for review. They are not posted automatically. Publication requires a separate editorial decision, privacy review, and—when appropriate—permission from the contributor or living people shown.
Corrections and removal
Family members may request a correction, additional context, or removal of material concerning them. Evidence status may also change when better records are found.
